The new computerized vehicle Emblem system consolidates and creates a uniform operational, management, and administrative platform for all of the legal state emblems. The vehicles covered in the new consolidated emblems are classified into 3 categories, namely, [1] Cars, [2] Mini-Buses / Pick-Ups, and [3] Lorries / Trailers / Heavy Duty.
Each Consolidated Emblem is embedded with a Micro-Computer Chip (Radio Frequency Identification [RFID] Tag) with unique attributes that make it impossible to forge or duplicate an Emblem. In general, an RFID tag is an object that can be applied to or incorporated into a product, animal, or person for the purposes of identification and tracking using radio waves. To effectively utilize the RFID tags, the new Emblem system includes Mobile Hand-held RFID Reader devices which are used by the Enforcement Agents to reliably verify and validate an Emblem.
The main Emblem itself conspicuously contains the following pieces of information:
1. Issuing State
2. Unique Serial Number (S/N)
3. Vehicle Classification (Type)
4. Year Issued
5. List of Covered Emblems
6. Verification and Validation GSM Phone Number
7. Customer Service and Support Voice Phone Number.
To verify the authenticity of an Emblem,
1. The Emblem's Serial Number (S/N) is sent as an SMS text message to the GSM phone number provided in front of the Emblem (0705-782-5507). A response indicating the validity or invalidity of the Emblem; and/or the associated vehicle information is returned, or
2. A mobile hand-held RFID Reader device is used by the authorized Enforcement Agents to read the encrypted identification information embedded in the RFID tag.
3. A voice call can be made to any of the customer service phone numbers with the Emblem's S/N.
The Consolidated Emblems is distributed via the Marketing Consultants and Authorized Agents. The Emblems are sold to the end-users via the Field Agents who acquire the Emblems from the Authorized Agents.
The BIR controls the enforcement of the system by using Professional Enforcement Agents in cooperation with the State Police, State Security Service (SSS), and Agents. The Enforcement Agents will be hired and paid by the BIR and trained by Enenia.
The BIR in cooperation with Enenia will engage in massive public awareness, education, and publicity for the new system which includes notifying all applicable other states' agencies and departments within Nigeria.
(1) By querying the system with the Emblem's Serial Number (S/N) only either by using your GSM phone or using the interface form below. When using a GSM phone, just send the Emblem's S/N to 0705-782-5507. The system responds by indicating whether the Emblem is valid for purchase or invalid or has been documented as sold (with the vehicle's plate number) or reported as sold (with vehicle's plate number).
(2) By registering an Emblem by sending the S/N, Receipt #, Vehicle Plate #, and Agent ID (from Receipt) to 0705-782-5507 or using the interface form below. The system checks to make sure that both the Emblem's S/N and Receipt # are assigned to the specified Agent; and subsequently documents in the system that the Emblem has been reported sold with the specified information. If either the Receipt # or S/N does not match the Agent ID, an error message will be returned by the system.
After purchasing an Emblem, make sure that you retain the original part of the receipt - the duplicate part MUST be returned to the Seller as evidence of sale and final documentation in the system.
